Students Get Medical Experience at Guantanamo Bay Navy Hospital
Students from the DoDEA-run W.T. Sampson Elementary and High School at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, recently got hands-on experience with medical professionals on the base. Working with 10 different departments over a five-hour field drip visit, students got to see potential career pathways with the base.
According to the Navy report, the idea for the field trip came from a desire to engage with the Guantanamo Bay community and brought in support from school leadership to connect the visit with curriculum from the classroom.
Knob Noster Community Champions Military Students
Knob Noster, a military community near Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, has been dedicated to supporting military students through their education journey. Knob Noster School District Superintendent and ADC board member Jerrod Wheeler spoke on this commitment in an article from KOMU.
“Military children … do a permanent change of station seven times between kindergarten and 12th grade,” Wheeler said. “We say often that if you’ve met one military child, you’ve met one military child.”
