Navy Names First Massachusetts Submarine
The Navy recently commissioned the brand-new USS Massachusetts, a Virginia-class fast-attack submarine. It is the first time a submarine has been named for the commonwealth, but the eighth military vessel named for Massachusetts across the branches, Stars and Stripes reported. The submarine “underscores the Navy’s commitment to building America’s Golden Fleet,” according to a Navy press release.
Texas Announces $26 Million Military Funding Grant
The state of Texas has announced over $26 million in grant funding to upgrade military installations across the state, supporting multiple Army depots, Fort Hood, Fort Bliss and more.
“Texas is home to over 1.7 million veterans and active duty, reserve personnel and their families,” Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said. “These funds will help ensure Texas military facilities, including our 15 major military installations, are up-to-date with the latest technology to enhance the safety and well-being of Texans and Americans by increasing water access and equipment resiliency.”
