Trump Won’t Rule Out Deployments to Iran

March 3, 2026

After the recent strikes in Iran, President Trump refused to rule out sending U.S. troops into Iran “if they were necessary.” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed no American troops were currently deployed but similarly said that it was a possibility.

Trump has told reporters that the war is expected to last “four weeks or so,” according to the New York Post but hinted that it could be shorter with the success of the Saturday strike.

NORTHCOM has ordered “heightened security” at U.S. installations after Saturday’s strikes, as installations in the Middle East were targeted in retaliatory missiles, resulting in the death of at least six service members, Stars and Stripes reported.
