The Army launched the Data Operations Center this month, starting a new initiative to bring together data sets from across the force into one centralized location. Using the system, information to be used in AI and other data analysis projects will be unified under one system and one security clearance.
A main priority for this information is to assist in battlefield targeting, both identifying threats and identifying civilians.
“That was one thing we were working on at the [Pentagon’s Civilian Protection] Center of Excellence,” former U.S. Air Force joint terminal attack controller and Pentagon whistleblower We Bryant told Military Times, “looking at ideas for AI integration in civilian environment mapping, in updating no strike lists in given areas.”
