Texas Base Completes First 3D Printed Buildings
Ten new buildings began construction at Fort Bliss in Texas, but their development will be significantly faster and require less labor. The 10 barracks were started using 3D printers, forming specialized concrete into walls that will become housing for 560 future soldiers. Completion of the project is expected to take only six months and provide housing for soldiers who currently must live off base, according to an Army report.
Missouri Base Cuts Ribbon on Community Hospital
Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the brand-new General Leonard Wood Community Hospital, set to begin full operations by April 13. The 430,274 square foot facility will replace the former hospital in the area, which was originally built in 1965. According to a Leonard Wood report, the new hospital will serve more than 34,000 and employ 600 staff.
