Hawaii Volunteers Help Community Recover
Volunteers from Hawaii military installations, including Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, helped the local community clean debris after the Kona storm. 19 military personnel helped clear away mudslides in the aftermath of the severe flooding, helping local residents with their property, a Navy story reported.
“This effort highlighted the strength of the local community and the spirit of aloha,” Lt. j.g. Braden Lorbecki, an officer who assisted with the cleanup said. “It shows what can be accomplished when people come together with a shared goal.”
