New York Base Launches Climbing Challenge

Fort Drum, New York’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s Outdoor Recreation team launched the Out of Breath Hiking Club Challenge, calling on service members and their families to take on 12 hikes in the local area, according to an Army report. The program spans from May to September with hikes of increasing difficulty and commemorative patches along the way.

Alaska Barracks Receives Free Wi-Fi

Through an IGSA with the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Fort Wainwright has begun receiving Wi-Fi in eight barracks across the base. Through a partnership with Boldyn Networks, equipment is being prepared to be implemented by mid-May. The IGSA is part of funding from the National Defense Authorization Act, which authorized piloting Wi-Fi for service members in unaccompanied housing.
