Service Members to Receive Danger Pay in Conflict Areas

April 8, 2026

Service members deployed for Operation Epic Fury will receive up to $225 a month for danger pay, Task & Purpose reported. The amount depends on proximity to conflict.

The Pentagon added several locations to the list of installations eligible for danger pay, including locations in the Middle East and the airspace over Iran. Service members are eligible for either imminent danger pay or hostile fire pay depending on the severity of their involvement.

The New York Times reported that nearly 50,000 service members currently deployed in the Middle East, most having already been stationed there and about 5,500 being deployed for Operation Epic Fury.
