The Pentagon is asking Congress to officially change the name of the Department of Defense to the Department of War, a change that has already been started on the Pentagon’s social media and in some parts of the Pentagon, The Hill reported.
The $52 million change would go toward making around 7,600 changes of language in federal law.
“The revision to the designation of the department serves as a fundamental reminder of the importance and reverence of our core mission, to fight and win wars,” DOW officials wrote in the 92-page proposal. “It serves as a strategic objective in which to measure and prioritize all activities.”
