Florida Sailors Help Restore Coastline
Volunteer sailors from Naval Air Station Pensacola collaborated with local community volunteers to help recover the local White Island shoreline. Participants helped plant more than 2,500 native plants to strengthen the coastline through the plant’s root system, according to a Navy report. The island was washed away after a series of hurricanes, but community action helped restore the land as a Pensacola recreation area.
Army Reserve Professional Mentors Meet at DECA’s International Conference
Representatives from the Army Reserve attended the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) International Career Development Conference, where students compete in business-centered events and challenge scenarios, according to an Army report. The event drew over 18,000 attendees from across the country and Canada, and the Army Reserve joined in running events and making connections with young leaders. Their attendance redoubled efforts to foster the future of military leadership.
