Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael is calling on Congress to move away from potential restrictions on data centers and AI usage, claiming that the effort would limit modernization and innovation, Crypto Briefing reported.
Specific regulations that put a limit on importing foreign technology and resources from China, Russia and Iran would harm the supply chain at a time when production is already expensive. The restrictions could also serve as a disincentive for private companies to partner with the military, DOW argues.
The restrictions are being considered in the House defense appropriations bill.
Data centers and AI will be a focus at the upcoming Installation Innovation Forum, with defense leaders across the country sharing ideas on how to best implement the new technology.
