Navy Installations Commander Vice Adm. Scott Gray announced that Navy installations will keep grab-and-go food stations open all day for sailors, Military Times reported. The grab-and-go spots, which are planned to be on 95% of shore-based Navy installations by the end of the month, will stay open from breakfast to dinner and not close between meals by the end of the year.
“We acknowledge that our sailors are busy,” Gray said. “This grab-and-go is an effort to ensure that no matter what your schedule looks like during the day, you have the opportunity not only to ensure that you get something to eat but that you get healthy options.”
The change is part of a larger initiative by the Navy to provide more food options to sailors, which will also include more restaurants taking meal option cards.
