Push For AI in Battle Met with Calls for Caution

June 3, 2026

Some military leaders are calling for safeguards on the use of AI in combat as the Trump administration is continuing to push its use, AP News reported.

Head of Special Operations Command Adm. Frank Bradley told attendees at a conference in Tampa that the AI implementation has to be done carefully, saying that “we, as humans, have to have the confidence that… it’s going to deliver violence only where we intend it to be delivered.”

AI companies partnered with the Pentagon have raised concerns themselves, causing the Pentagon to cut their contract with Anthropic after they refused to loosen restrictions on the software, as On Base and others reported.

ADC will continue the conversation of AI implementation in battle systems this October at the 2026 Installation Innovation Forum in Tampa.
