Army Cutting 12K+ PCS Moves this Year

July 1, 2026

The Army is cutting more than 12,000 PCS moves in fiscal year 2026 to help stabilize service members and their families, Stars & Stripes reported. The move will provide stronger career continuity for military spouses and a more stable environment to raise military children.

“The goal of our strategy is to solve one of the biggest challenges to readiness and retention, which is instability,” Senior Army Career Counselor Sgt. Maj. Enrique Rose said in an Army report. “The efforts focus on empowering soldiers to choose what is best for their families while not compromising readiness.”

Over 13,000 PCS moves are slated to be cut in fiscal year 2027 as well.
