Navy Supports Disaster Relief in Venezuela

At the request of the Venezuelan government, the USS Billings and USS Fort Lauderdale visited to provide humanitarian aid after earthquakes harmed infrastructure in the region. According to a Navy release, the stop was the first by a Navy vessel in Venezuela in decades, bringing in disaster relief cargo and providing medical care to injured civilians.

Interagency Road Repair Completed in California

Basilone Road at Camp Pendleton, California has received repairs that will keep it functional for years to come. The road was damaged by severe weather in 2023, leaving many sections damaged and the installation disconnected. Through a contract with Reyes Construction Inc., the new repairs strengthened the road’s foundation and surroundings, making it much less likely to be damaged by weather in the future, according to a Navy report.
