Alaska Hosts Defense Forum Alongside ADC
The 2026 Alaska Defense Forum is being held August 24-26 in Fairbanks, bringing in 400 attendees to discuss Alaska’s valuable role in national defense. This year’s theme is “Readiness in Action,” featuring defense and industry leaders. Speakers include Michael Borders, the Air Force’s top installations leader, along with Assistant Secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Tim Dill and Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Military Community and Family Policy Stephen Simmons.

Texas Base Demolishes 1963 Hospital
Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas has demolished the installation’s former regional hospital that was originally constructed in 1963. The project has been in progress since 2025, with hazardous material removal and environmental testing, according to an Air Force report.
“It’s difficult to see a building with so much history come down,” Col. Kenneth Raszinski, 82nd Mission Support Group commander, said. “But this shows we’re investing in our people. Having a newly constructed medical facility helps our medical professionals continue delivering excellent care, and that’s important to the readiness of our force and the future of Sheppard.”
