SC Air Base to be Renamed After Graham
Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina is set to be renamed after the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, The Washington Post reported. The renaming was in honor of his “decades of distinguished service to the United States Congress and the United States Air Force,” according to an internal memo from Air Force Secretary Troy Meink.
Graham served in the Air Force and the South Carolina Air National Guard, The Post and Courier noted.
Texas Base Opens First 3D-Printed Barracks
Fort Bliss, Texas held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the first of its 10 3D-printed barracks on base, utilizing robotic construction in the DOW’s biggest project to date, according to an Army report. The 10-building, 78,000-square-foot barracks will be easier and more affordable to maintain than traditional base housing. Two buildings have already been opened to service members, with the remaining eight to be finished in September.
