As part of a larger $500 million contract, AeroVironment has been awarded a task order to develop and implement AI defense systems to protect Air Force installations from unmanned aircraft. Defense Scoop reported that the task is the first in the main contract, providing $80.5 million to create a layered defense system. 

“A key element of these capabilities is their ability to be fully interoperable, which is a crucial component of a strong, layered drone defense,” the Army said in a press release. “These capabilities can be configured for either fixed-site or mobile employment. The first task order invests in AeroVironment’s Titan solution for c-UAS detect and defeat options suited for complex operational environments.”
