Rogers Wants to Keep HASC Leadership Role

July 28, 2026

House Armed Services Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) told Alabama Daily News he will seek a waiver to extend his time as the committee’s top Republican when a new Congress convenes in January. Rogers has been chairman since 2020, meaning his six-cycle limit is up, but the Republican conference could let him continue.

Reps. Rob Wittman (R-Va.), Trent Kelly (R-Miss.) and Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) are also interested in the top Republican seat on the committee, Punchbowl News reported.
