‘War Force’ Pushes for Hiring AI Engineers

July 8, 2026

DOW has partnered with the Office of Personnel Management to recover its software engineer workforce with the War Force, Defense News reported. The campaign seeks engineers to work on AI systems to support the US Tech Force AI implementation initiative.

“Executing the key tenets of the War Department’s AI Acceleration Strategy and modernizing our enterprise demand the nation’s best talent to ensure American military technological dominance for generations to come,” DOW Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael said.

The department has lost nearly 100,000 civilian workers over the last two years, with the War Force campaign hoping to fill the gaps that have developed.

The positions will not exceed more than two years, according to the job posting.
