Air Force Looks for New Jet Engine Partners

August 4, 2026

The Air Force is requesting a new contract for jet engine manufacturing, Defense News reported. The request comes as the service has been facing difficulties sourcing engine components and plans to produce over 180 a year by 2034.

The request for information targets more reliability from its jet engine manufacturer alongside better affordability and flexibility.

“We will achieve this through a revolutionary, performance-based competition that harnesses industry innovation, secures our industrial base, and guarantees unrivaled flightline readiness for the warfighter,” the Air Force said in the request.

RFI submissions are due August 28.
