Alaska Native News reported that Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy created a new Alaska Military Affairs Office, which will coordinate partnerships between installations and the surrounding communities.

“Alaska has never been more strategically important to our nation’s security than it is today,” said Governor Mike Dunleavy. “This office will strengthen coordination across state government and help position Alaska for continued military investment and economic growth.”

Alaska will host its annual Alaska Defense Forum August 24-26, covering critical issues facing the uniquely positioned installations in the state.
