For 50 years, ADC has been proving it. Here’s the story — and what we’re building next.

For 50 years, America’s defense communities have stood behind our military, adapting through base closures, forging new partnerships, and proving again and again that what happens at home matters to our national defense. ADC has been the connective tissue of that movement.

Partnerships that Power the Mission.

This year, we gather in Military Bay, USA™ — Tampa Bay, home to MacDill Air Force Base and a designated Great American Defense Community—where mission meets momentum and partnership is part of the culture.

Join the leaders building what’s next for America’s installations. Because national security starts at home—and it’s powered by the partnerships we build together.

Mind the Gap: Connectedness, Integration, and Continuity

This paper highlights the opportunity and outlines what becomes possible when spouses are recognized not as transient residents but as enduring contributors to community resilience and growth. Through the proposed solution-based framework of Connectedness, Integration, and Continuity (CIC), communities can move beyond symbolic support toward intentional, sustained engagement.

Widening the Aperture: Part II

This article provides an in-depth, unclassified discussion of the emergent drone threat and the shared challenges it presents to defense communities mand their partner military installations. This discussion begins with an explanation of the nature of drone threats and the reason that they are considered emergent threats of high importance in defense-related contexts.

MEET AMERICA’S
DEFENSE COMMUNITIES

Behind every mission, base and family there is a community that provides a home to our military. From small towns to cities, regions and entire states – defense communities take different forms, but their role is the same – providing a foundation for our national security and a home for our military families.

Representing every major defense community and state in the country, the Association of Defense Communities (ADC) is a 300+ member organization dedicated to advancing issues that build strong communities and strengthen the ability for service members to defend our nation.
