Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said he would “strongly consider” accepting the Secretary of the Air Force post if President Donald Trump offered him the role, responding to questions during a Fox News interview Saturday.
“If the president would determine I would be the candidate, the person that he wanted to lead the Air Force, I would certainly strongly consider it,” said Kinzinger, an Iraq War veteran and an Illinois Air National Guard member.
Kinzinger has publicly criticized the administration’s border policies, but more recently has emerged as a supporter after participating in an Air National Guard southern border deployment. He now says he now supports the national emergency declaration and using defense funds for the barrier.
