DOD Names Higher Education Faculty Partners

DOD has chosen seven DOD-university faculty teams for the FY 2023 Defense Education and Civilian University Research (DECUR) Partnership, part of the Minerva Research Initiative, according to a press release. DECUR aims to enhance social science research collaboration between DOD and civilian universities, improving understanding of global social and cultural influences on U.S. strategic interests.

“The DECUR Partnership facilitates exciting opportunities for civilian universities and DOD educational institutions to collaborate, linking researchers and students to create knowledge and methodologies that advance our understanding of national security challenges,” David Montgomery, director of social science in the Office of Under Secretary of Defense for research and engineering, said.

The selected faculty members are:

  • Kash Barker, University of Oklahoma, and Ashly Townsen, Air War College
  • Erica Lonergan, Columbia University, and Benjamin Jensen, Marine Corps University
  • Amy Holmes, George Washington University, and Andrew Novo, National Defense University
  • Karrie Koesel, University of Notre Dame, and Aleksandar Matovski, Naval Postgraduate School
  • Catherine Luther, University of Tennessee, and Jahara Matisek, Naval War College
  • Alvin Camba, University of Denver, and Covell Meyskens, Naval Postgraduate School
  • Azamat Junisbai, Pitzer College, and Erica Marat, National Defense University
