Reps. Wittman, Ryan Launch Defense Modernization Caucus

March 22, 2024

Reps. Rob Wittman (R-Va.) and Pat Ryan (D-N.Y.) are co-chairing a new bipartisan caucus focused on defense modernization, Defense Scoop reported.

“As the nature of warfare continues to evolve, we must prioritize the modernization of our joint forces,” Wittman wrote Thursday in a post on X. “Today I launched the bipartisan Defense Modernization Caucus alongside my colleague @RepPatRyanNY to advance our national security ecosystem through emergent technologies.”

Ryan pointed to frustration he had in trying to drive modernization himself.

“When I returned home from Iraq, I co-founded a company that deployed cutting-edge analytics software to support our troops in harm’s way,” Ryan told Defense Scoop. “We navigated the often-winding halls of DOD, working to find ways to break down barriers for innovative and disruptive technologies.”
