DOD Launches Financial Readiness Resource for Military Spouses

A new DOD website is providing financial guidance to military spouses.

Many military families have expressed concern and anxiety over the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, especially as some military spouses have become unemployed or underemployed.

“My husband and I had to resort to using a credit card to pay for groceries since we had to buy extra for self-isolation purposes during this crisis, though we’re trying to decrease our debt,” one Air Force spouse recently said in a CMSI Pain Points Poll.

MilSpouse Money Mission, the new site launched by the Pentagon’s Office of Financial Readiness, features resources for families facing COVID-19-related challenges but also supports their broader financial well-being.

“Our goal is to educate and empower military spouses to help them make smart money moves,” the site says. “Why? Because military spouses usually manage the finances in their households, but they don’t have to do it alone.”
