Lawmakers Try Again to Add Veteran Centers to College Campuses

February 22, 2023

A bipartisan group of lawmakers has reintroduced legislation to establish student veteran centers on college and university campuses, Stars and Stripes reported.

“This legislation would help student veterans with the transition from military to civilian life, ensuring that they have the opportunity to succeed in their education and career goals,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said in a statement, according to Stars and Stripes.

Rubio is sponsoring the bill with Sen. Jackie Rosen (D-Nev.). Reps. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) and Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) have introduced the bill in the House.

The centers would be one-stop shops for veterans to get academic and financial support, among other services. They could also help veterans connect with other former service members, who can sometimes feel isolated.
