NDAA: Rogers Plans Marathon Markup, Quick Floor Vote

April 21, 2023

House Armed Services Chair Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) wanted to break the committee’s long tradition of pulling all-nighters when considering the National Defense Authorization Act but can’t change the schedule this year, he told Politico, as reported in Thursday’s National Security Daily.

HASC plans to debate and pass its version of the NDAA in late May. Republican leaders want to move it on the House floor soon after, but there’s a two-week recess planned around Memorial Day, so the timing is still unclear.

The Senate typically considers its version of the NDAA later in the summer.
