DOD Webinar Will Update Defense Communities on Prevalence, Prevention of Sexual Assault, Harassment

June 14, 2024

DOD’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs is hosting a webinar June 26 on sexual assault prevention. It’s geared toward state and local leaders to provide them “best practices to expand integrated prevention initiatives, improve climate and culture, support reforming the military justice process, and enhance victim assistance,” DOD said.

Estimated Prevalence Down

DOD last month released its annual report on sexual assault in the military, based on data from fiscal year 2023.

It “shows that the estimated prevalence of sexual assault and harassment declined in the active force, compared to levels last measured in 2021,” according to a press release. “This is the first time in nearly 10 years that the department has seen a decrease in sexual assault prevalence. The report also shows that a greater share of service members reported their sexual incidents to a DOD authority.”

Defense community leaders can register now for the session, taking place Wednesday, June 26 at 4 p.m. Eastern time.
