Alabama Base Sets Community Example for Other Countries

July 2, 2024

Redstone Arsenal’s relationship with Huntsville, Alabama has been gaining attention from the U.S.’s global military allies.

Both Japanese and South Korean visitors came to the arsenal in the past month. They came to see how the base managed to cooperate and integrate itself with the surrounding community and what lessons could be learned.

The Korean Broadcasting System, South Korea’s biggest journalism company, came to make a documentary about the base and its ties with Huntsville. This included interviews with military officials and city officials such as Huntsville’s mayor and a member of the chamber of commerce.

Redstone Arsenal Garrison Commander Col. Brian Cozine said the widespread attention “certainly demonstrates [that] the community relationships we sometimes take for granted are the very foundation of our success,” according to an Army story.
