Rep. Kildee: Legislation Needed to Move Away from PFAS

February 5, 2019

The military needs to do more to clean up PFAS chemical contamination and, which DOD says is a problem at more than 400 installations, and stop using the chemicals, Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Mich.) wrote in a Military Times op-ed. Kildee represents the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base.
“Some argue that we do not know enough about these chemicals to act or that the problem is too costly,” Kildee wrote. “I do not accept these arguments. The promise we make to military families and the communities that host them is that we will do whatever is necessary to take care of them. It does not say America will only do so if it’s cost effective.”
Kildee helped launch a bipartisan congressional task force to fight PFAS contamination.
