Lawmakers were finishing the language on a mini-omnibus spending bill late Wednesday in hopes of averting a federal government shutdown. The bill would need expedited action in the House and Senate, then get President Trump’s signature before Friday night.
The President has sent mixed signals about his position on the bill. Administration officials said they wanted to see the final language before deciding whether he will sign it.
About 25 percent of the federal government – including the Coast Guard – will go unfunded if the bill isn’t signed into law.
