The Air Force and Marine Corps are raising concerns to lawmakers about their installation readiness after facing devastating hurricanes in 2018 that forced redirecting millions of dollars to recovery efforts, Stars and Stripes reported Tuesday.
Lawmakers returned to Congress this week to face the services in need of disaster recovery funding to make complete repairs and return to normal operations.
The services have requested additional congressional funding to pay for damages from Hurricane Michael which hit Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., last October, and Hurricane Florence that severely damaged Camp Lejeune, N.C., in September.
Both services have said that the lack of funding will impact their readiness.
Without immediate funding the Marine Corps says it will have to begin reducing training, and the Air Force has said it will have to curtail new construction projects.
