National Public Service Commission to Hold Two Public Hearings Thursday

May 15, 2019

The National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service will hold two hearings Thursday on military service policy options at the Partnership for Public Service, according to a Wednesday DOD press release.
The first hearing, which will be livestreamed at 9 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, will address the challenges to recruiting and retaining critical skills and talent under the military’s current personnel system and discuss new pathways to military service.
A second hearing, which will be livestreamed at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, will explore how the nation can create more military service awareness, particularly among young Americans, and how to reduce the divide between the military and civilian populations.
The 11-member commission is a bipartisan panel tasked with a comprehensive review of the Selective Service System, along with military, national and public service. The public is invited to share comments on its website and join the digital conversation on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
