Army National Guardsmen Will Get New Leg Up on Civilian Job Credentials

October 28, 2019

A new credentialing program will give Army National Guard members more flexibility in training for civilian careers, according to Stars and Stripes.
While all branches offer support for service members converting their service experience for civilian occupations, the Credentialing Assistance Program takes it further. Guardsmen will be reimbursed up to $4,000 each year for tuition and other education costs toward credentials in a number of fields, regardless of their position in the military.
“It can be that distinguisher when you are going for a job application or promotion [or] competing next to other candidates,” Kenneth Hardy, chief of the Army National Guard’s education branch, said in a statement.
The program started at Fort Hood last year and will be available nationwide in January.
