The federal government is currently operating under a continuing resolution that expires at the end of next week. Members and staff of the House and Senate appropriations committees worked throughout the weekend in hopes of passing all 12 spending bills before the Dec. 20 deadline.
House Appropriations Committee Chair Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) said last week the House could begin voting on bills this week, even as most of D.C. focuses on impeachment proceedings.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told a CNN town hall Thursday that if necessary, Congress will pass another continuing resolution to get “past Christmas.”
