A tentative agreement between Fort Knox, Ky., and nearby Hardin Co. for the county to manage the base’s refuse services will bring $200,000 in additional revenue to the county and save the installation another $200,000 on top of that, The Elizabethtown News Enterprise reported. “Today marks another huge win for Hardin County taxpayers,” Judge-Executive Harry Berry said….
A $3 million state grant will allow the Navy to build additional fencing around runways at Naval Air Station Meridian, Miss., AP reported. Deer, cattle, hogs and coyotes have been able to get through existing barriers and could cause problems on the runways….
The National Coast Guard Museum Association has raised $56 million in federal, state and private contributions to build a Coast Guard museum in New London, Conn., according to The Day. The project will cost at least $100 million, a spokesperson said.
