Judge to Rule on Border Wall Impact to Wash. Installation

January 26, 2020

A federal judge in Washington state will rule within a few weeks on whether the Trump administration is overstepping by diverting military construction funding to pay for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, AP reported.
The state’s attorney general, Bob Ferguson, argued in court last week that moving money away from planned security improvements at Naval Base Kitsap will cost the state $2.6 million in tax revenue.
An appeals court is also considering whether to allow the border construction to continue with military construction funds.
The administration is considering moving another $7.2 billion in DOD funding – about half of it from construction projects – for more sections of the border wall.
