SoCal Nonprofit Provides Critical Assistance to Service Members in Flux

Support the Enlisted Project (STEP), a nonprofit which assists young military families with financial self-sufficiency resources, is providing support to military families facing layoffs, furloughs and stalled PCS orders during the coronavirus crisis.

Most recently STEP hosted a drive-thru event providing critical basic need resources, including food and personal hygiene products, to over 700 families. The organization plans to continue this program through April. Additionally STEP provides financial aid through its Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) program, which gives grants to families for critical basic needs.

“We’re an organization that believes if you’ve chosen to serve, you deserve to be able to stay in your house, get food on the table, and get those basic necessities. And then we’re going to work with you on how to maintain that forever,” said Laura White of STEP to ABC10 San Diego.
