Joint Base San Antonio Makes Community Plea for Blood Donations

May 20, 2020

The bases in “Military City USA” are asking San Antonio civilians to help with an anticipated need for more blood, News 4 San Antonio reported.

The blood centers at Joint Base San Antonio expect their supply will begin to deplete as local citizens become more active following loosened stay-at-home orders and they begin to see an uptick in patients involved in car accidents or with other conditions that dropped off when movements were restricted.

“To ensure we are prepared to assist our military families and civilian emergency patients at Brooke Army Medical Center, we encourage everyone who is feeling healthy to consider donating blood,” the 502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs said in a statement.

Access to the base is currently limited, so appointments are required through https://www.militarydonor.com.
