NY Guard Testing Will Help Support the State’s Reopening

May 29, 2020

Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, The New York National Guard has delivered more than 16 million meals, assembled 1.4 million COVID-19 test kits for health care facilities and helped administer almost 300,000 of the tests, the National Guard reported Friday.

The National Guard’s testing sites are especially important now that most of the state will begin reopening.

“We’re turning the page on the COVID-19 pandemic,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said. “We’re focusing on two tracks going forward – monitoring the reopening and supercharging the reopening.”

The Guard’s soldiers and airmen are also helping the New York State Department of Health with antibody testing and assisting with mortuary services and funerals.
