VA Asks for Donations to Help Homeless Vets During Pandemic

May 18, 2020

Part of new initiative to fight food insecurity and homelessness during the coronavirus crisis, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced new platforms to assist donations to one of the country’s most at-risk, vulnerable populations.

The agency is specifically asking for nonperishable food items and new mobile phones to help veterans gain access to VA telehealth resources.

The VA will also accept monetary donations to help veterans pay security deposits to avoid eviction or homelessness.

“These donations can make a critical difference in the department’s ability to protect and serve vulnerable Veterans during this public health emergency. VA is thankful for the donations already received for our nation’s heroes during this unprecedented time,” said VA Secretary Robert Wilkie.
