GAO Requests Further Review of $20 Billion TRANSCOM Contract

October 23, 2020

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has asked DOD to review a contract which would outsource U.S. Transportation Command’s (TRANSCOM) management of military household good after two protesters raised concerns, Military Times reports.

The proposed contract would be worth $19.9 billion over nine years. The contract was set to take effect in February.

Awarded in the May, TRANSCOM’s contract went to American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier Group, Inc., of Parsippany, N.J.

GAO analysts recommend that TRANSCOM allow revised proposals to be submitted, reevaluate the proposals, and determine which one would be the best value for the government.

Connected Global Solutions, of Jacksonville, Fla., and HomeSafe Alliance, LLC, of Houston filed the protests.

The recipient of the award will oversee all facets of movement of temporary storage of goods of military service members and families (e.g. PCS moves). This activity is currently conducted by TRANSCOM.
