Army in ‘Attack Mode’ to Help Ease PCS Challenges

August 19, 2021

For the second year in a row, the COVID-19 pandemic is causing problems for service members who are changing duty stations this summer, when 54,000 people will be moving among bases, according to Army estimates.

The pandemic continues to impact the housing market as well as the availability of movers and moving trucks.

The Army has established a PCS Moves Crisis Action Team, similar to one stood up two years ago to address on-base housing, according to a DOD news story.

“People are the Army’s No. 1 priority, and the Army will do everything in its power to facilitate PCS moves for our families,” said Lt. Gen. Doug Gabram, commanding general of Army Installation Management Command. “We have put the spotlights on the gaps in the seams, and now we’re in attack mode.”
