Three more U.S. military installations are supporting the urgent mission to evacuate and house Afghans.

“[DOD] has authorized Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, Fort Pickett, Virginia and Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico to provide additional support to the U.S. mission to evacuate Afghan special immigrant visa applicants, their families and other at-risk individuals,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby told reporters Friday.

Fort Lee, Virginia, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Fort Bliss, Texas and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey had already been selected for the mission.

Together the installations can house up to 50,000 people, The Hill noted.
