The military and other federal operations in Ohio account for 6% of the state’s economy, generating $40 billion in gross regional product and supporting 385,000 jobs, according to a new economic impact analysis by JobsOhio. “As we continue our strategy to generate more jobs, partnerships, and economic development opportunities throughout Ohio, we remain mindful of the benefits supporting robust programs and services for our individual service members and their families,” Gov. Mike DeWine (R) wrote in an introduction to the report….

Eilson Air Force Base, Alaska will be home to the Air Force’s first nuclear microreactor, AP reported. “This technology has the potential to provide true energy assurance, and the existing energy infrastructure and compatible climate at Eielson make for the perfect location to validate its feasibility,” said Mark Correll, the deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force for environment, safety and infrastructure….

Maryland environmental officials have advised anglers that high levels of PFAS contamination have been detected in fish in Piscataway Creek off the Potomac River near Joint Base Andrews and are recommending limited consumption, the Bay Journal reported.
