Army Pauses Vaccine Mandate for Civilians

January 27, 2022

The Army issued preliminary guidance this week “to pause ongoing formal or informal disciplinary or enforcement actions against civilian employees” who have not gotten the COVID-19 vaccination, Stars and Stripes reported. The Air Force issued similar guidance, according to the report.

A federal judge last week put a hold on the Biden administration’s requirement that civilian workers get vaccinated. The Department of Justice immediately appealed, but the administration is still weighing how to move forward.

The White House said Friday that about 98% of federal workers are vaccinated or have filed for an exemption.

The judge’s ruling does not impact the Pentagon’s mandate that uniformed personnel get vaccinated, DOD said.
