Six Military Communities in Texas Get State Grants

Six communities have received grants through the Texas Military Preparedness Commission’s Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant program. The total of this round of awards is $15.3 million, according to a news release.

The grants are going to:

  • Abilene for 5G and fiber expansion at Dyess Air Force Base
  • Corpus Christi for clear zone easement supporting Naval Air Station Corpus Christi
  • Fort Worth for Military Family Advocacy Resource Center renovations at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth
  • San Antonio for infrastructure and force protection measures at Joint Base San Antonio
  • Temple for microgrid at Robert Gray Army Airfield supporting Fort Hood
  • Val Verde County for Aerospace Physiology Building and T-1A Flight Line Building renovations at Laughlin Air Force Base

“Support for our military communities and the jobs they create is vital to continue expanding opportunity for hardworking Texans across the state,” Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said.
