DCIP Boost in Omnibus Bill Will Further ‘One Community’ Mission, ADC President Says

March 17, 2022

The appropriations package signed into law this week provides a total of $90 million in the current fiscal year for the Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP), which helps fund infrastructure needs that impact both installations and the communities around them.

“America’s defense communities recognize that we are ‘one community,’ and that means critical infrastructure investments cannot stop at the gate,” ADC President Bob Ross said in a press release.

“DCIP is funding projects that directly support the mission of the base, our service members and their families.”

DCIP provides matching grants to address critical off-base infrastructure needs that also impact military value and installation resilience.

The program is administered through the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC). Its director, Patrick O’Brien, recently told the Defense Communities National Summit – by which point the final funding levels were not yet known – that his office would be announcing the timeline soon to solicit grant applications to be awarded by the end of the fiscal year in September.
